Calculate gravel volume for one measured driveway layer at a time. A driveway build-up may contain sub-base, base and surface courses, so each specified material and depth needs its own result.

How to measure this project
Divide entrances, turning heads and parking bays into simple shapes. Measure each course to its own boundary; lower layers may extend beyond the visible finished surface.
Product and terminology distinctions
Driveway gravel describes a project use, not a universal material. A visually similar gravel may not meet the same loading or grading requirement.
Worked example
A drive is 14 m × 3.2 m and includes a parking bay 5.0 m × 2.6 m. Combined area is 44.8 + 13.0 = 57.8 m². A separately specified 40 mm surface course is 0.04 m deep, giving 2.312 m³ before allowance.
The example uses geometry only. It does not insert a density, package size, recommended depth or supplier tolerance.
How to discuss the result with a supplier
Request each course by its stated grading and distinguish resurfacing material from structural base. Confirm whether quotation quantities refer to loose delivery, compacted placement or mass.
Limitations
The calculator does not design pavement thickness, drainage, edge restraint or bearing capacity.
