Short tons and cubic yards
This converter uses the US short ton, defined as 2,000 pounds, and cubic yards as volume. Moving between them is impossible without bulk density. A value labelled only “tons” must be clarified before calculation because it may refer to another ton definition.

Confirm whether the supplier density is expressed per cubic yard, cubic foot or cubic metre and convert compatibly. Retain the product name, grading, condition and date. The same cubic-yard volume can correspond to different short-ton estimates.
